I don’t agree with long term continued use of coal, but I also don’t agree with destroying the reputation nor the livelihood of the hardworking people (the laborers and technicians, etc.) who provide so much of our nation’s energy. If it’s to be done, it needs to be done gradually and without pointing fingers.

Actually, coal is a very efficient fuel. A lump of coal has 50 times the energy of either solar of wind on a comparable basis. Engineering technology cleans the effluent produced by the coal before is is discharged to the atmosphere. These gases are not pollutants. There are atmospheric gases that are required for life on earth. We need more of them in the atmosphere, Including CO2. Not less.

Coal mining didn’t bring poverty to appalachia, organized labor did. Coal miners in Wyoming make a very good wage with great benefits. The fact that Wyoming is a right to work state allows mines to be profitable for companies, that profit pays back into our schools, roads, hospitals and many other public works that contribute to our quality of life. Don’t mention fascism, it makes you sound like a fool. Nationalizing businesses while leaving the facade of private ownership is fascism.
